JobDescription:
  • Marine related expertise inclusive of radio communications.
  • Safety standards and systems for the fleet as per Company’s SMS, including accidents tracking and investigation.
  • Contingency plans, for the company and external. E.g. OPA 90 requirements.
  • Conduct of Navigational Audits and follow up from office on navigational matters.
  • During ship visits, responsible for carrying out the Safety Committee Meeting under his chairmanship using the Form S005 and provide recommendations to the Senior Management on improvements required (if any) on the Safety Standards of the vessel or any best practices observed.
  • Safety and QA training in close coordination with sea personnel.
  • Maintaining effective ship vetting support and results.


    1. MAIN TASKS:
      1. Crew-related
  • PEAP close-out for all Crew.
  • Update briefing checklist vessel-wise in the system.
  • Approval of Master & Chief Officer prior joining the vessel.
  • Respond to MLC complaints from the vessel or any external authorities. 
  • Office briefing of ship staff.
  • Monitor actions of top 4 & 2/O – newly hired or promoted.
  • Crew matrix review.
  • Crew training matrix review.
  • Crew complements compliance. 
  • P & I Crew case review. 
  • Rest Hours – monitor record-keeping, reply NCR and advise vessel on compliance. 


    1. Vessel-related
  • Approval of permit to work received from vessel. 
  • Risk Assessment review and approval to vessels.
  • Monitor the use of ECDIS on board.
  • Review mooring arrangement and records.
  • D118 for review & action. 
  • Vessel cosmetic condition 
  • Review safely-related Defect Report (DR)
  • Monday Morning Wake-up Call (MMWUC) items related to marine operations. 
  • Review critical jobs overdue.


      1. HSQE / Vetting-related
  • Initiate & close-out of Management of Change.
  • Near-miss review, reply & recommend best ones to Marine Manager.
  • Safety Committee Meeting (SCM) review and response.
  • Port state control inspection observations close out docket to be approved by DPA and uploaded in VIMS.
  • Vessel KPI monitoring including environmental KPIs.
  • Close-out tracker for HSQE, vetting, manning & training.
  • Close out NCR.
  • Incident reporting, investigation & close-out.
  • Audit planning and execution for the 5 non-technical audits.
  • GOA transit management.
  • VPQ & Q88 update.
  • Execution of vetting planner. 
  • Vetting budget – monitor & comment in Variance Report.
  • Close-out of vetting follow up. 
  • Send questionnaires to Oil Majors for vessel approval. 


      1. Operations-related
  • Navigation audit review every quarter
  • Monitor passage plans for critical legs of voyage 
  • Monitor use of charts & publications 
  • Review noon position for charter party compliance 
  • Review of cargo plan 
  • Review of tank cleaning plan 
  • Handling of cargo claims 
  • Cargo related LOI’s
  • Special Cargo – monitor compliance of hardware & safety requirements 
  • New vessel take over procedures – Marine-related
  • Provide Marine input for dry dock specs 
  • Weather monitoring & advising vessel on a daily basis
  • P & I Cargo case review, enter every case in Insurance module 
  • Salary :25-30 Lacs
